Postnatal care

£1800

The fourth trimester - or postnatal period - is an incredibly transformative experience for both parents and babies. It's not just a time of physical and emotional change, but a time of healing, of learning new skills, and navigating relationships in your changing family.

Postnatal care with me will be flexible to your timings, in the comfort of your own home. No need to get dressed, no need to get out of bed! I will come to you, wherever you are.

I will also be able to spend plenty of time discussing your postnatal recovery, baby's wellbeing, and your feeding journey.

Postnatal appointment schedule

This is flexible and can be adapted to your specific needs. Your care begins when you are discharged home if you deliver at the hospital, or same day/next day if you deliver at home.

Care lasts for 4 weeks, and you have up to 10 visits. The frequency of the visits are up to you. Some people may choose visits every day for the first few days, every other day, or more spaced out over the 4 weeks.

If you do not have the antenatal care package, I will organise to meet you at least once antenatally where we can discuss postnatal planning and get to know each other.

I will also be available via Whatsapp from the day baby is born.

You can expect a full postnatal check and holistic support for the whole family, including:

  • Birth reflection

  • Baby weigh ins (according to NICE guidelines)

  • Emotional support

  • Physical postnatal check ups

  • Wound reviews

  • Recovery advice

  • Feeding support

  • Newborn wellbeing assessments

  • Mental health monitoring (for both parents, not just the birth mother/parent)

  • Newborn screening option as per national guidelines (NBBS or Newborn Bloodspot Screening)

  • Referral to further support if necessary

  • Whatsapp support for the entire duration of your care package

  • Signposting to local service providers (e.g. lactation consultants, tongue tie practitioners, pelvic floor specialists, postnatal doulas etc.)

  • The partner / father / non-gestational parent will also receive support and will have my Whatsapp number

  • A chat, a friendly face, and someone to make a cup of tea for you when I come over!

Please note these exclusions to my care:

NIPE (Newborn Initial Physical Examination), tongue tie assessment, jaundice blood test as this needs to be done in proximity to pathology lab, newborn hearing screening.

I encourage you to use the NHS services available, or I can liaise with other private practitioners if you wish.

I would also like you to note that I am not a lactation consultant, but I am very experienced and passionate about infant feeding support and make sure I keep my skills up to date. If I feel like you need more specialist support or advice I will signpost you to appropriate services and am happy to make recommendations for lactation consultants.
