Antenatal Care

£2500

As an NMC Registered Midwife I follow the national guidelines for the scheduling of antenatal appointments, plus a bit extra.

Your appointment with me will be unhurried and relaxed in the comfort of your own home, at a time that is mutually convenient. If you have any additional requirements or prefer to have more or fewer appointments than outlined below we can discuss this and come up with a personalised plan that works for you. All appointments are about 1-2 hours, flexible to your needs and wants. All checks (i.e. blood pressure, urine dipstick, fetal health monitoring etc) are optional, and I will be happy to discuss the recommendations behind the care I offer.

Antenatal appointment schedule

Initial Consultation

This can be either a phone call, virtual call or in-person appointment where you can see if my services are right for you. I find out what you want or need from your antenatal care and see if we're a good fit.

Booking

This generally takes around 2 hours. I will take a full medical, obstetric and holistic history and get to know you and your family. We will discuss screening options, make a plan for pregnancy, and I will give advice on nutrition and health in pregnancy.

I will also provide you with your own personal antenatal notes that will remain with you for the duration of your pregnancy. This will be used to document your antenatal care, and will also contain a wealth of information and signposts to further research you can do to help you make decisions around your care.

12 weeks

An additional appointment where I can check in with you at the end of your first trimester, assess your physical and mental wellbeing, and answer any questions you might have about the results of the early screening and ultrasound.

[NOTE: I do not offer ultrasound scans or combined screening/NIPT]

16 weeks

An assessment of physical and mental health. The first opportunity to listen in to baby's heartbeat via a doppler if you choose.

20 weeks

An additional appointment where we can discuss the result of your 20 week ultrasound. A general check in.

25 weeks

We will assess physical and mental wellbeing, discuss baby's movements, and we will begin antenatal education. I will also begin to offer fundal height measurements if appropriate so that we can monitor baby's growth throughout the pregnancy.

28 weeks

We will assess your physical and mental wellbeing, and begin to discuss postnatal wellbeing, pelvic floor exercises, and start the discussion around infant feeding.

31 weeks

We will begin the discussion around your birth preferences if we have not already done so, in addition to assessing your physical and mental wellbeing.

34 weeks

Physical and mental wellbeing assessment. Continuation of discussion regarding birth preferences and postnatal advice.

36 weeks

In addition to physical and mental wellbeing checks, we will finalise your birth preferences and create a birth plan (if we have not already done so). I will advise on preparing for labour with regards to baby's positioning, and discuss colostrum harvesting if appropriate. We will also discuss signs of labour and recognising active labour.

37+ weeks

Physical and emotional wellbeing check. I will see you weekly until the birth of your baby - monitoring baby's wellbeing and helping you prepare your body for labour.
