Birth Package
From £8500
Full birth care
From our very first booking appointment we will build a trusting relationship so that when you go into labour you can feel reassured that you're in safe hands with someone you know. We will have had plenty of time to get to know each other, I'll understand you and your family on a holistic level to provide the care that you decide is best for you. Continuity of care has been proven time and time again to result in improved birth outcomes and birth experiences, and I feel privileged to be able to provide you with this gold standard midwifery care.

Antenatally all your appointments will be in the comfort of your own home. I will offer you urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, fetal growth and auscultation, fetal positioning and your emotional and physical wellbeing. Appointments are offered based on NMC guidance, at 8-10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 28, 31, 34, 36, then weekly until baby's birth. This is flexible to your needs and we can plan a bespoke schedule for you as required. See Antenatal Care for further details.
Antenatal care includes birth education and planning, and you will have my phone number to contact me as needed.
I will be on-call for your birth from 37 weeks. If you are planning a home birth there will be a second midwife on-call for your birth who you will also meet and get to know prior to birth.
Insurance and midwifery equipment is included in the pricing.
If you require or request a transfer to hospital during a home birth I will accompany you and act as a birth partner within the hospital setting for the duration of your birth for non-clinical support and advocacy.
For planned hospital births I would act as birth support within the hospital setting. I can provide early labour care within your own home.
Postnatally I will provide your care at home. See Postnatal Care for further details. Care will generally last about 4 weeks, up to 6 weeks if needed, and around 10 visits in total. Again, this can be tailored to your specific needs. I also provide breastfeeding support.
I can also make direct referrals or provide details for private practitioners such as a doula, postnatal doula, lactation consultant, osteopath, acupuncturist, pregnancy massage therapist, homeopath, physiotherapist and tongue tie specialist.
30+ weeks birth care £7500
I do offer smaller 'late booker' packages, available from 30 weeks gestation. I do not book these spaces in advance, you can enquire from 28 weeks for a 30 week start date. Due to my micro-caseload I do not often have these packages available, so if you want to book me to be at your birth please do not wait until your 3rd trimester to book me.
Why is the price not much lower than the full birth package price?
Most of the costs of a private midwife come towards the end of pregnancy. The insurance for birth, the on-call and birth attendance, and paying a 2nd midwife are the majority of the costs. The majority of appointments are at the end of your pregnancy, as in your early pregnancy I see you once a month. Someone who books me at 30 weeks but goes to 42 weeks pregnant has nearly the same amount of appointments as someone who books me at 10 weeks but births at 38 weeks. In a late booking pregnancy a lot of work is done in a short space of time, rather than spread across the length of the pregnancy.
Therefore it is not feasible for me to offer a 3rd trimester package at a much lower price than my full birth package. In addition, my main philosophy is that continuity of carer is one of the most important parts of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care! I don't want to incentivise people to booker later at a lower cost as that is not in line with the evidence of gold standard care.
